34 Days & Counting...
Hello all! Melanie Miller here, Artistic Director of the Jackson Hole Film Festival. As you can tell by the bloggin' that has already taken place this week, I've assembled an amazing team that is ACTION! JACKSON. ACTION! JACKSON includes: Melanie Miller – Artistic Director, Cevin Cathell - Program Director, Noam Dorros – Sr. Programmer, Diane Becker – Programmer & Jason A. White – Programmer. A big thanks to indieWIRE for making this blog possible and for constantly providing me, as well as you, with all things independent cinema and more! Since our first entry is for you to get to know each of the members of ACTION! JACKSON, let me kick off my cowboy boots and give you a little info about this cowgirl. Having numerous years experience in the entertainment industry as a producer, music supervisor and yes, Russell Crowe’s assistant, the Jackson Hole Film Festival, the Institute’s flagship event, has become my “movie”. I spend many months in pre-production working with an amazing crew that collectively creates an event not to be missed! I have been actively involved since the onset of the Jackson Hole Film Institute, which was established in 2003. From Volunteer to Film Coordinator to Program Director to Artistic Director it has been an amazing journey to date. I am truly fortunate and am thankful to enjoy what I do for a living! Yes, this blog is here for you to get to know ACTION! JACKSON & the upcoming festival – June 5th – 9th, but we’re also here to delight and entertain you with fun little snip pits of trivia, encourage you to write that script or make that film and numerous other fun things that relate to cinema, pop culture and let’s not forget music! Speaking of, did you go to Coachella this last weekend?! I did and had a blast! Far too many bands and artists to list, but some of the highlights for me included: Love & Rockets, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Raconteurs, Death Cab for Cutie, Café Tacuba, Portishead, Rilo Kiley, Jack Johnson, The Swell Season (amazing Pixies cover!) & of course Prince! They all rocked the polo field! Cevin & I leave sunny CA on Monday (Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!) and hit the road to return to beautiful, picturesque Jackson Hole. We’re excited to get back, but I must admit, I’m not ready for the SNOW that awaits us. Stay tuned for our road trip adventure… Posted by mmiller on May 2, 2008 at 07:43PM |
