Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

TRAILER: "The Hero of Color City"

The Hero of Color City is opening October 3rd via Magnolia Pictures. Directed by my Asifa-Hollywood colleague Frank Gladstone and featuring vocals by Christina Ricci, Wayne Brady, Rosie Perez, Craig Ferguson, Owen Wilson and Sean Astin. Pretty good for a film aimed pre-schoolers and being released to Video on Demand services the same day.

ANIME TRAILER: "Attack On Titan: No Regrets"

One of the most popular anime series currently in production and this trailer shows why. Here's the first promo for the latest anime, adapted from a spinoff manga. "Attack On Titan: No Regrets", will go direct to video, bundled with two volumes of the original manga in December and in April 2015. Here's a first look.

What hath Saving Mr. Banks wrought? In case you can't wait for "Walt Before Mickey" - another unauthorized live action Walt Disney biopic is now available online. "As Dreamer's Do" is on such video-on-demand services as iTunes, Dish TV Vudu and Amazon - and coming next Tuesday in DVD (exclusively in Walmart stores). Here's the trailer.

It's Time To Admit That 2-D Animation Does Not Need 'Saving'

This is a problem that has persisted for years - over a decade even - and has been regurgitated so often that it is now considered fact. The concept that 2-D animation (read: traditional, hand-drawn animation) is 'dying'. Don't you believe it. Traditional animation continues to duck and weave despite what the mainstream press will have you believe.

Adult Swim sets October 27th for Debut of "Mike Tyson Mysteries"

Adult Swim announced today that their new animated adult comedy series, "Mike Tyson Mysteries", will premiere on Monday, October 27th at 10:30pm. The show stars Mike Tyson, Norm Macdonald, Rachel Ramras (MAD) and Jim Rash (Community), and is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Check out the clip.

Here's an early peek at "Walt Before Mickey" the feature film based on the non fiction book by Timothy S. Susanin. Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie) portrays Walt Disney and Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) is brother Roy. Colleagues Hugh Harman, Rudy Ising, Friz Freleng, as well as distributors Margaret Winkler and Charles Mintz are also portrayed

The Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, CA (Los Angeles) will present a Yellow Submarine Movie Tribute Art Show on Saturday, Sept 20th. The show will celebrate the 1968 animated feature film, and feature artwork by more than 20 contemporary artists and animators as well as a 10 foot mosaic guitar by artist Juliana Martinez.
