Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Unified Pictures announced today that Academy Award-nominated director John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) will direct the company’s first CG- animated feature inspired by “Noah’s Ark,” which is slated for completion in 2016.

I cannot wait to see this film. Isao Takahata's The Tale of Princess Kaguya will screen at TIFF on September 5th with Takahata in person. GKIDS will release the film for Oscar qualifying run on October 17th. Here's the first US release teaser - and it looks hot.

Studio Ghibli co-founder, Isao Takahata, appears in person when The Tale of Princess Kaguya makes its North American premiere in the TIFF Masters. Director Tomm Moore will appear in person at the Song Of The Sea world premiere and a documentary about Studio Ghibli from director Mami Sunada will make its North American premiere in the TIFF Docs.

On Tuesday evening, August 12, Bill Plympton gave a presentation and complete screening of his seventh and newest animated feature, Cheatin’, for a packed house of ASIFA-Hollywood members, at the DreamWorks Studios in Glendale. This presentation was a preview for the U.S. premiere of Cheatin’, at the Downtown Independent Cinema in Los Angeles.
