Need more proof that hand drawn animation is alive and thriving in Europe? Submitted for your approval: Aunt Hilda! (Tante Hilda!), a new feature film by Jacques-Remy Girerd and Benedict Chieux (Raining Cats and Frogs, Mia and Migou). The fourth animated feature from French studio, Folimage (A Cat In Paris), it opens in Paris on February 12th 2014. Here is the trailer (in French) - it has a 1970s-vibe and I love it.
The plot (translated from French):
"Lover of nature, Aunt Hilda, preserves, in her plant museum, thousands of plants worldwide. Many are endangered. Meanwhile, a new cereal, Attilem, developed by the "industry", is cultivated with so little water, no fertilizer, and produces yields prodigious, it appears as a miracle solution to curb hunger and take over of petroleum reserves are depleted. But the disaster is not far. "
