Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Dreamworks has released Open VDB, an open source framework developed by DWA engineers for sparse volume data. This is especially useful for volumetric effects, such as clouds. I recently interviewed Ken Museth and Jeff Wike of Dreamworks to learn a bit more about Open VDB and what it is all about.
