Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Get ready for lots of sunshine, rainbows, and pony-style happiness. The original tv series that inspired the current My Little Pony phenomenon is finally coming to DVD in its entirety. My Little Pony The Complete Series features all 65 episodes, and will be available September 30 in the U.S. and Canada.

GKIDS Acquires North American Rights For Brazil's "Boy and His World"

GKIDS announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement for the North American rights to the upcoming animated feature Boy And The World. The Brazilian film, directed by Ale Abreu, screened in competition today, June 9th, at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

Nickelodeon has announced a 13-episode order of Chris Savino's "The Loud House", the first series to be greenlit out of its 2013 Animated Shorts Program. The network has also announced 11 finalists from its 2014 Shorts Program. Details here.

Sony Pictures Animation today announced the acquisition of an original animated comedy feature pitch by Todd Alcott and Holly Golden entitled MEDUSA, which will tell an all-new story behind the infamous snake-headed lady from Greek mythology. Emmy winner Lauren Faust will direct.

Dean DeBlois has therefore exceeded all expectations with an ambitious vision for Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless and the world they inhabit in Berk and beyond.
