Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Classic Hollywood style hand drawn animation turns me on - so this 30-second commercial, voiced by Will Arnett, made in the style of the 1930s-era Popeye is a winner. For a Bank of America Mobile Banking App, UK's Passion Pictures hired Stockholm-based directors "againstallodds" - aka Niklas Rissler and Derek Picken - to direct the spot.

Third times the charm - this new trailer for Disney's Planes Fire and Rescue looks better than the entire first film released last summer. Artie Lange kidnaps baseball legend Pete Rose in this is a NSFW unaired TV pilot created and produced by Andy Rheingold (Beavis and Butt-head, Spongebob Squarepants) for Spike TV. Titmouse was the animation studio, the pilot was directed by Jody Schaeffer and Chris Prynoski.
