Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

"Ernest and Celestine" Opens in LA

If you haven't seen the Oscar nominated Ernest and Celestine, this is the week to do it. It opens in LA today at the Landmark Theatre in West L.A.. The director (Benjamin Renner) and the producer (Didier Brunner) of the film are going to be at the Landmark on Saturday for a Q&A (4PM show) and to introduce the 6:15PM show.

Coming in 2015 from China's Vasoon Animation, this hand drawn animated feature - once again, based on the classic Asian "Monkey King" legend. The studio has bestowed the English title "The God Hunter" on the film, though other details are sketchy. But whatever the title, whoever the filmmakers, this trailer is a must-see.

Shout! Factory has secured all distribution rights to "Jack and The Cuckoo-Clock Heart" including theatrical and digital distribution, home entertainment and broadcast for cross-platform releases. Shout! Factory plans a strategic rollout of this film in select theaters, video-on-demand, television and in all packaged media in 2014.
