Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Disney has begun production on an all-new animated television series, Star Wars Rebels. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

You need to see these. Artist Amanda Visell recently created a set of uber-cool Ren & Stimpy wood figures for Nickelodeon and I am 8bit. These limited edition Acrylic on hand-crafted wood-sculptures are very expensive - but so cool to look at.

Disney has released just this 2 and a half minute compilation of clips from its forthcoming theatrical feature, Planes. And I have to admit, it's looking a bit more "theatrical" (the film was originally made-for-video, produced through Glendale-based Disneytoon Studios).
