Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Dr. Katz starts Kickstarter Campaign

A crowdfunding campaign has begun to fund an animated comedy series starring comedian Jonathan Katz. The short Death Row Diet is being expanded into an animated series about the main character's life in prison and funds are being raised on Kickstarter.

Nickelodeon's upcoming Breadwinners, from a pilot by creators Gary "Doodles" DiRaffale and Steve Borst, was recently picked up for 20 full-length episodes. The series follows "two booty-shaking ducks as they operate a bread delivery service out of their awesome, jet-fueled rocket van." Here's a first look.

This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, is being held this week in Los Angeles. This is an extra big year for the event, since this year will see the launch of two new consoles. The Xbox One and the Playstation 4 are both eagerly awaited, as people look to see exactly what this new generation of console gaming will look like.

Sensing some money from the Brony fanbase, Screenvision has teamed up with Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory to bring the full-length feature, My Little Pony Equestria Girls to theaters across the U.S. and Canada beginning June 16th. Here's the trailer.

Here it is - the official poster for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ never-before-seen short Get A Horse! Making its world debut Tuesday, June 11th at the Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France, the film stars Mickey Mouse and featuring Walt Disney himself as the voice of the iconic character.

Relativity Media has just released the first images from their upcoming animated film Free Birds. The feature is being directed by Jimmy Hayward through Reel FX, and will be released in 2D and 3D formats on November 1st - just in time for Thanksgiving.
