Animation Scoop Editor Jerry Beck is a writer, animation producer and author of over 15 books on animation history. He is a former studio exec with Nickelodeon Movies and Disney, was instrumental in launching Animation Magazine, co-founded Cartoon Brew and has written for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He is on the faculty of Woodbury University in Burbank and his latest book is The Art of Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Turbo plays like a mash-up of Ratatouille, Cars and Breaking Away. It isn’t a bad film, but it feels very, very familiar, even on the first viewing.

Next Tuesday, the Holliston horror-com series on FEARnet gets animated for the first time with a riff on Scooby-Doo titled "Blobby." I spoke with director Adam Green about working with Six Point Harness (El Tigre) and pushing the envelope for this Wayne's World meets Saw sitcom in its second season about a pair of would-be filmmakers (Green and Joe Lynch) running a cable-access station in Green's small hometown of Holliston, Mass.
