Disney's Frozen won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature at tonight's Golden Globes ceremony in Hollywood.

This award positions the Disney musical as the front runner for the Oscar. However, it remains to be seen what nominees the Academy put forth (The Globes only considered Miyazaki's The Wind Rises for Best Foreign film - it didn't win).

Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee accepted the award on behalf of the Walt Disney Studio. They gave a special thank you to John Lasseter and Ed Catmull.

Well, the Golden Globes are more of a commercial awards show than the Academy Awrds.

Speaking of that, it looks like there might be some stiff compatition in the Academy Awards as "Ernest & Celestine" is nominated for Best Animated Feature

It's no surprise that the brilliant super production, FROZEN has won the Golden Globe, and will also likely sweep in the Academy Oscar. I congratulate the makers of FROZEN, but it's no secret that I'd been hoping that someone would win who'd need the boost more than mighty Disney. FROZEN was set to rake in mega bucks with or without an Oscar, with world wide screening, monster merchandising, Disneyland attractions, and, I suppose the almost inevitable live Broadway production. There's no way for an independent, to blend the well-known Disney formulas into such an intoxicating high-tech potion.
