With Captain America: The Winter Soldier opening this weekend, the animated Marvel's Avenger's Assemble is also making a little news itself this week.

The Guardians of the Galaxy (of the upcoming Marvel live action movie of the same name) are making a first time appearance in this Sunday's episode of the Disney XD series. "Guardians and Space Knights" is the title of this particular episode.

Plot: When Galactus attacks Earth, Iron Man is able to lead him to another planet but discovers that it is populated and under the protection of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The special voice guest stars include Seth Green as Rocket Raccoon; Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot; Nika Futterman ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as Gamora and Chris Cox ("Family Guy") as Star-Lord. John DiMaggio ("Futurama") also voice guest stars as Galactus.

This episode of "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" premieres Sunday, April 6 (8:00 AM - 8:30 AM, ET/PT) on Marvel Universe on Disney XD. Here's an exclusive first look photo:

I'm sorry I wasn't aware we could resurrect the dead Michael Clarke Duncan died in 2012

MCD played Groot in Ultimate Spiderman. Considering Groot only says "I am Groot" I wonder if they are just reusing audio

Didn't Michael Clarke Duncan dies two years ago?

Of course, this isn't the Guardians' first animated television appearance. The Guardians of the Galaxy first showed up on the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Season 2 Episode 6, titled 'Michael Korvac' (6 May 2012).
Quaser and Adam Warlock stood in the places of Drax and Gamora (who were probably deemed too violent/fighty for even A:EMH's audience), but they were well-represented on that show, especially with Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
