No doubt about it. We are in the grip of full scale "Lego-Mania". The Lego Movie is breaking records at the box office - and a sequel has been ordered. (btw - check out Elvis Mitchell's NPR interview with directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord broadcast today on KCRW).
Today we got Universal's trailer for Non-Stop (above) in Lego style. Next up, The Simpsons - on their May 4th episode - the 550th - Homer will wake up to a Springfield-turned-Lego.
It should be noted that Lego has been in the movie business for sometime now. Ever since 2010's Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers, the company has produced a direct-to-video feature each year - up to and including last year's LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite.
Like Hula Hoops and Rubik's Cube, the fad will pass... but Lego will go on and on, perhaps as another animated character put it, "to infinity and beyond".
