Mickey Through The Ages

We don't usually do fashion pieces here, but this new Mickey Through The Decades collection has caught my eye. Lest you think the new Mickey Mouse shorts for the Disney Channel, or the forthcoming theatrical cartoon, Get A Horse, are the only retro-Mickey/Minnie projects on the Disney agenda - think again. Old Navy has unveiled a very attractive line of T-shirts using vintage graphics - mostly poses from classic animated films and Floyd Gottfredson comics.

Just as cool, the store opened a dedicated webpage to promote the clothing line - with downloadable "vintage" postcards (sample below), notebooks, a coloring book and wallpapers. The Mickey and Minnie graphics depict Mickey from his first talkie, Steamboat Willie (1928) through his days on The Mickey Mouse Club in the 1950s. According to the press release: "The classic artwork explores how Mickey and other beloved Disney characters have evolved over the decades". The Mickey Through the Decades collection is available online at and at Old Navy stores. Women's tees will be priced from $12.94, men's tees from $14.94, kid's tees from $12.94 and toddler tees from $14.94.

Saw these yesterday. Disney and Old Navy need to be complimented for doing this stuff.

That said, I hope they can expand the line to have other colors besides grey and greyish blue for the mens shirts. And like Top Cat James said, it's sad that the coolest design is used on a boy-sized shirt.

That "Plane Crazy" Mickey getting clocked with the horseshoe is my favorite-shame its only available in a boy's size.

I'll still pick up one of these. As usual, thanks for the heads up, Jerry.
