It's not a disaster or an embarrassment like Hoodwinked or Barnyard, but given the experience and abilities of Chris Wedge and Blue Sky artists, it should be better.

Blue Sky's biggest achievement on Epic was going naturalistic for a more believable animation style. However, scale was the biggest challenge in delineating the human and microscopic forest worlds, according to producer Michael Travers, production designer Greg Couch, and animation supervisors Galen Chu and Melvin Tan.

Epic is not only Blue Sky's best movie but also director Chris Wedge's most personal, too: a swashbuckling, samurai action/adventure that takes place in a lush, microscopic forest world. It's familiar and new; naturalistic and fantastical. And it's about looking beneath the surface and discovering hidden truths about life and nature.

Fox has just released its teaser for Rio 2 which opens next April. Tropical lovebirds, Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) return in the sequel, along with newcomers Kristen Chenoweth, Bruno Mars and Amandla Stenberg.

Word has come from CinemaCon, the movie theatre exhibitor convention now going on in Las Vegas, that Blue Sky is in development on a 3D CGI Charlie Brown feature. The question is, will it look any better than the old Viewmaster slides produced over 30 years ago?
