This weekend in Burbank is the "comic con" for professional animators, animation students and all those involved in the artistic side of the cartoon and visual effects field.  The CTN Animation Expo at the Burbank Airport Marriott begins on Friday at noon and runs through Sunday night.

CTN (which stands for Creative Talent Network) is the brainchild of Disney veteran Tina Price, who started this annual event in 2009. Special guests, panels, studio sneak peeks, industry recruiting, meet and greets with major names in the business - the event is usually packed - and tickets traditionally sell out by Friday night (I highly recommend you buy your tickets now).

CTN is kicking off with an advance screening of GKids Ernest & Celestine, Thursday night in the Marriott Ballroom. There are too many events and panels to mention here - but I suggest you scan the schedule posted here. Among the highlights of the weekend (and this is only the tip of the iceberg):

FRIDAY: Book Signings with animators John Kricfalusi and Floyd Norman; Behind The Scenes of Disney's Frozen; Panels and discussions with Eric Goldberg, Bill Wray, Bill Kroyer, Dan Haskett, Ken Duncan,. Bibo Bergeron and much more.

SATURDAY: Breakfast with Andreas Deja, Bob Kurtz and Barry Cook; Bill Kroyer interviews Phil Tippett; Eric Goldberg interviews Burny Mattinson; Cocktail receptions with Kevin Lima and Richard Edlund.

SUNDAY: Will Finn interviews John Kricfalusi; Charles Solomon interviews Bob Kurtz; The Making of Sleeping Beauty with Pierre Lambert.

Each evening concludes with a networking party. Panels I will be personally introducing or moderating include:

Friday at 4:15pm - Behind The Scenes with Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, with directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, Art Director David Bleich and Production Designer Justin K. Thompson.

Saturday at 9:30am - From Roger Rabbit to The Gorillaz, an interview with Andrew Ruhermann.

Saturday at 12 noon - The Art Of Jay Ward Productions with Darrell Van Citters and Sam Clayberger

Sunday at 11am - Wander Over Yonder panel with Craig McCracken, Alex Kirwan, Dave Thomas and Lauren Faust

Sunday at 1pm - "What's Next For Your Demo Reel?"with Michal Makarewicz, Royce Wesley and Victor Navone

Sunday at 4:45pm - Legends of Oz: Dorothy Returns panel with producers Ryan and Roland Carroll and author Roger Stanton Baum

The entire event will be live streamed free on the internet - for details click here. Here's a sample of a previous years panels, via CTN's Vimeo channel. See you there!

I don't want to let Eric Goldberg to stay in Disney forever, just let him quit Disney on November 28, Thursday so he'll have to work at DUCK Studios for Cartoon Network.

Ugh. He'll only leave when he decides to or they tell him to. You can't force him to leave.
