Gatchaman is best known in the US as the anime series Battle of the Planets or G-Force. The property started in 1972 as Science Ninja Team Gatchamancreated by Tatsuo Yashida for animation studio Tatsunoko Productions (Speed Racer). Toho is releasing a live action film based on the characters - directed by Toya Sato - on August 24th. You can't tell much from a 1:30 second Japanese language trailer... but this looks surprisingly good!  Take a peek: Take a peek:

    No Seven Zark Seven? I guess he was only in the US version.

    After cutting out all of the "offensive" material from the Japanese version, they had to add Seven-Zark-Seven scenes to fill out the running time.
