Tweety's Debut at New York Fashion Week

It's "Fashion Week" in New York - and as usual, the fashion crazies have re-imagined a classic cartoon icon in the worst possible way: 

Designer duo Phillipe and David Blond, creators the The Blonds label, will debut their Tweety-inspired 2014 spring/summer line today at New York Fashion Week, Tweety: The Original Blonde.

"We have always been visually drawn to Tweety's oversized blue eyes, lashes and amazingly bright colors. Tweety's innocence to me always had a mischievous and unpredictable side to it that is endearing and captured our imaginations," says David Blond.

In an interview with Fashionista, the duo stated what drew them to the yellow canary: "One of the things that makes this character so interesting is Tweety's androgynous quality, which adds a certain mystique." 


Note To Fashion Designers, Toy Licensees, and Warner Bros. Licensing: Tweety is a boy. The character is a male. 

"We are excited to partner with The Blonds to lend Tweety's sassy and smart attitude as inspiration for what will be an avant-garde take on a truly original character," says Karen McTier, executive vice president, domestic licensing and worldwide marketing, WBCP.

Tweety doesn't need an "avant-garde take". Please leave our cartoons alone.
