Do not miss this screening. This program was only held once before in 2006, where the festival organizers actually assembled the dual-35mm prints of all the 3D cartoons produced back in the golden age of animation: Boo Moon with Casper, Disney's Melody, Donald Duck in Working For Peanuts, Woody Woodpecker in Hypnotic Hick, Bugs Bunny in Chuck Jones' Lumber Jack Rabbit.
The program will also include RKO's stop motion Motor Rhythm (originally produced for the 1939 NY World's Fair), the oddball stop-mo Adventures of Sam Space, Norman McLaren's Now is the Time, plus a few unannounced surprises. One of the surprises last time was a screening of the uber-rare Walt Disney's 3D Jamboree, a rare color Mouseketeers film originally made for showing in Disneyland. I hear they may show this again.
I cannot stress again how rare - and entertaining - this assemblage of animated shorts are. If you have any interest in the history of animation, three-dimensional films or simply a cinema phenomenon of the mid-20th Century, I urge you to attend. For more information click here. See you there!
