More on Moore's Timing
An article in the Independent reports that Moore admitted in a CNN interview that "he knew a year ago that Disney had no intention of distributing" his new film Fahrenheit 911, offering that the admission has "undermined Moore's claim that Disney was trying to sabotage the US release of Fahrenheit 911 just days before its world premiere at the Cannes film festival." The story also raises questions about whether or not Miramax "signed a contract to distribute this [film]" (Moore's quote from CNN), with the Independent offering up "a source close to Miramax" as reporting the deal was for financing, not distribution. Brilliant viral marketing (heck, when you get the New York Times to run a front-page story, your viral marketing efforts have succeeded) to create buzz for the film release.
