'Pride' Wins Cannes' 5th Queer Palm Award

Of the 13 films eligible for this year's Queer Palm Award, Matthew Warchus's "Pride" took home the prize, beating out the likes of Mélanie Laurent's "Respire" and Xavier Dolan's "Mommy" (though notably there's little queer about "Mommy" beyond its writer-director).

EXCLUSIVE: Check Out The Poster For Russell Sheaffer's 'Masculinity/Femininity' -- Based On The Short He Made With James Franco

One of the many notable films about to hit the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival in Toronto (which kicks off this week) is Russell Sheaffer's "Masculinity/Femininity" -- a feature length expansion of the short he made with James Franco a few years back. World premiering at Inside Out, the experimental documentary -- shot largely on Super 8mm -- pretty much takes off where the short left off.

Patricia Clarkson and Debra Winger Joining David Cronenberg at the Provincetown Film Festival

The Provincetown International Film Festival is truly about as good as a small film festival gets. Unofficially queer (but given it takes place in one of the gayest places on Earth and has John Waters as its permanent resident artist, it's pretty darn queer), the festival always has great programming, great parties, and great guests. Because who doesn't want to spend a weekend in P-Town? Patricia Clarkson and Debra Winger sure do, as they'll be joining the previously announced David Cronenberg as this year's festival honourees.

Cannes' Queer Palm Award Turns 5 This Year: Here's The 13 LGBT Films Competing For It

The Cannes Film Festival kicks off today in the south of France, with dozens of films competing for dozens of prestigious prizes, the Palme d'Or clearly the queen among them. But for the past five years, that prize has had a queer little sister in the Queer Palm -- and despite our earlier suggestion there wouldn't be much in the way of options competing for it, it turns out there's a lucky 13.
