6 Things To Know About Amazon's Extremely Promising New Series 'Transparent'

At Saturday's Outfest panel of Amazon's upcoming series Transparent -- about an elderly father who grapples with telling his adult children the decision to transition into a woman -- creator Jill Soloway (Afternoon Delight) joined her cast on stage to discuss the revamped pilot they screened, with new actors and characters, from the one that was posted online earlier this year. Here are the major takeaways about the show, which has been officially picked up and is set to premiere binge-style with all ten episodes on Amazon Prime in late September.

Recap: 'Masters of Sex' Season 2, Episode 1: 'Parallax'

"Masters of Sex" ranked as one of my favorite new shows last year thanks to smart writing, great performances and upholding a fascinating look at sexuality, feminism and gender norms that still rings true today for a show that takes place in the late 50s. And I'm thrilled to be recapping season two of Showtime's series with /bent. Hopefully my writing (convincing) here will get more people hooked and watching because this is a show that deserves the attention.

Friends of Dorothy: Was 'The Golden Girls' Really As Queer-Friendly As Its Reputation Suggests?

“The Golden Girls” is a seminal queer classic, one that flawlessly incorporated aging women into NBC’s primetime lineup. Since its initial airing, the show has developed quite an immense following from viewers (especially gay men) who enjoy the antics and sexual escapades of Rose, Blanche, Dorothy, and Sophia. But what I have noticed about some of the more prominent and vocal fans is that they tend to glaze over the show’s problematic depictions of LGBTQ characters, hailing these depictions as brave and flawless.
