'Looking' Adds Three New Recurring Characters; 'Please Like Me' Gets a Third Season

Some news from two of our favorite shows...

Please Like Me

While neither ended up getting any love from the Emmys (much to our chagrin), two of our very favorite shows at least had some good news to offer: "Please Like Me" -- a few weeks before its second season premiere -- has officially been greenlit for a third season by Pivot, while HBO's "Looking" has reportedly added three new characters according to TV Line:

Season 2 of the HBO drama will add three recurring characters: Malik, an African-American staffer in the mayor’s office; Sammie, a female-to-male transgender who lives at the shelter where Agustín gets a job; and Brady, Richie’s new redheaded, slightly punk beau.

There's actually quite a bit to take from that paragraph (and we can't wait to find out who gets cast in the roles). For one, Richie's new beau!? We're frankly happy to hear his move from recurring to regular didn't mean more of him dealing with Patrick's bullshit. Also, it appears Agustin's post-implosion life with involve working at a shelter, which hopefully in turn helps Agustin not be such a fucking asshole. And then there's the suggestion that  the folks behind the show are clearly listening to complaints of a lack of diversity: An African-American character and a F to M transgendered character adding to Latinos Agustin and Richie should definitely lay to rest those concerns. Though this still leaves Doris as the show's sole female character…

We'll have more on "Looking" Monday from a report from this weekend's Outfest panel, where surely more news about season 2 will be spilt.
