Um.. Is Xavier Dolan the new frontrunner for the Palme d'Or!? His fifth feature "Mommy" screened just a few hours ago in Cannes, and Twitter went nuts with pretty epic praise, including quite a few mentions of the P-word (he would become the first Canadian ever to win and just a year shy of Louis Malle's record of the youngest), and others that suggest Anne Dorval is going to give Marion Cotillard a run for her money.

Reviews should be out shortly, but for now we have a whole lot of glowing tweets to go on, and they sure are making us hopeful. If this ain't the makings of sweet, sweet revenge on his naysayers, we don't know what is:

Awesome. It'll be quite appropriate that in a festival with most seasoned contenders declaring that this will be their last film, that the youngest contender be given the award. Kind of like passing off the torch.
