"Transformers: Age Of Extinction" is currently perched atop the $100 million rock and how the film holds up today will determine whether it can stay there. They may lose the Latino audience who will be glued to TV sets for the Mexico-Netherlands match but in any event it's a powerful opening for Paramount.

We finally have a winner as "Transformers: Age Of Extinction" sails past "Captain America: Winter Soldier" to become the highest opening of 2014. Its take of $41 million for last night and Thursday previews should translate to a gross slightly over $100 million.
