Sure, it may not be like next December when tens of thousands dig deep into their closets for their 25-year-old Han Solo costumes, but anticipation for tonight's 7:00PM late shows on "Amazing Spider-Man 2" is still riding high. Reaction to the first episode in the Spidey reboot was generally positive with most signing off on Andrew Garfield as the new web slinger. Sony has the week to itself and a vast array of ticket upcharge formats (Imax, 3D, D-Box, etc) and a weather forecast that calls for rain in various parts of the country on both Saturday and Sunday, which at this time of year will only aid grosses.
Most prognosticators have "ASM2" landing exactly where the year's biggest opening up until now did, "Captain America: Winter Soldier"'s $95 million, but I'm a bit more bullish on the film. I'm sticking to my original Monday prediction of passing the century mark and settling in $102 million.
