"No mas, no mas!", you cry.  Are you inundated with sites sending you 14 different Cannes stories every day since the fest started?  Never fear, Box Office Insider has your easy-to-digest recap of the first half of the festival, so grab a croissant and let's talk about Le Croisette

** Two films have really stood out so far.  The first is Sony Classics' "Foxcatcher" with Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carrell.  Carrell is the revelation here, from all the fest reviews on the film.  His portrayal of billionaire John du Pont is dark and chilling as his character becomes infatuated with the wrestling Schultz Brothers (Tatum, Ruffalo).  The second film making noise is "Mr. Turner" from fest fave director Mike Leigh, which stars British character actor Timothy Spall, who is absolutely brilliant in his portrayal of eccentric British painter J.M.W. Turner.  Think Oscar.

** Paramount paid a Cannes record for "Story Of Your Life", a sci-fi drama from director Denis Villenueve, starring Amy Adams.

** The Oscar nominated screenwriter of "Captain Phillips", Billy Ray, will take his first turn in the director's seat with "The Secret In Their Eyes", a crime drama starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Gwyneth Paltrow (two names that always send my Spell Check into convulsions).  Ejiofor plays a former MI-5 agent battling the memory of an unsolved murder.

** A24 acquired U.S. rights to the Atom Egoyan ("The Sweet Hereafter") directed "The Captive", a missing-girl thriller which stars Ryan Reynolds, Rosario Dawson and Mireille Enos.

** Sony Classics picked up Bertrand Bonello's "Saint Laurent", the biopic of legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, starring Gaspard Ulliel.

Grace

** Reviews on "Grace of Monaco", which has been a bone of contention between filmmakers and Harvey Weinstein, actually screened fairly well at the festival.  It's unsure whether Weinstein will now release the film Stateside.

** It was announced that Helen Mirren and "Breaking Bad"'s Aaron Paul will star in the drone thriller "Eye In The Sky".  eOne will distribute.

** Open Road closed a deal to distribute "Nightcrawler", a drama centering around L.A.'s crime journalism underground from director Dan Gilroy and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo (Gilroy's wife).

** Focus has nabbed U.S. rights to "Bastille Day", a thriller based on a terrorist plot in Paris, starring Idris Elba and "Blue Is The Warmest Color" actress Adele Exarchopoulos.
