China Spurs "Maleficent" To The Top Of The World Cup Dominated International Box Office

There's nothing like an opening in China to allow you to reclaim the top spot overseas and nothing like 11 guys falling down as if shot when breathed on (are you listening, Germany?) to keep guys away from International multiplexes. That translates to family oriented films finishing 1-2 this weekend.

There's nothing like an opening in China to allow you to reclaim the top spot overseas and nothing like 11 guys falling down as if shot when breathed on (are you listening, Germany?) to keep guys away from International multiplexes.  That translates to family oriented films finishing 1-2 this weekend  "Maleficent" opened to a spunky $20 million in China, allowing it to eke out a victory over "How To Train Your Dragon 2" with "Edge of Tomorrow" taking the place position.  "22 Jump Street" continues to expand well throughout the territories, however the first 9 countries on "Jersey Boys" could only muster $1.6 million.  Here are the complete estimates:
