Clint Set For Christmas Exclusive on 'American Sniper', Guy Ritchie Gets Moved Back 7 Months and 'Godzilla 2' Set for 2018

I consider it a successful week on the release schedule front if we only have two (yes just TWO!) release schedule additions that include the word "Untitled" in them. Fancy that. Warners will give Clint's "American Sniper" an Oscar go, "Power Rangers" return to the big screen and the big green lizard descends upon these shores again in 2018.

There's a lot to get to so, in the immortal words of the late Jackie Gleason...and away we go!

AMERICAN SNIPER---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 12/25/14 LIMITED (JANUARY EXPANSION)
Very positive buzz on this Oscar contender, featuring Rocket Raccoon himself, Bradley Cooper, as the most decorated Navy SEAL sniper in history

Man From U.N.C.L.E.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 8/14/15   OUT 1/16/15
"Hello?  Guy Ritchie?  Ummm, we need to move you back seven months.  Click.  Guy.  Hello?  Hello?"  Cult 60's TV show gets a big screen opportunity and now the Henry Cavill, Hugh Grant, Armie Hammer starrer goes up against the NWA biopic, "Straight Outta Compton" and Relativity's yet untitled (grrrr) armored car heist comedy with Owen Wilson and Kristen Wiig.

POINT BREAK---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 7/31/15   OUT 8/7/15
Moving up two weeks ensures that "U.N.C.L.E." won't affect it too terribly and it also allows this update of the 1991 Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze vehicle another week of summer and has only Sony's spy comedy "Grimsby" and Fox's "Paper Towns" to contend with.  Good move.

Power Rangers

POWER RANGERS---LIONSGATE---IN 7/22/16
You knew this was coming, didn't you?  2016 update of the 1990's classic (I can't believe I just wrote the word "classic" for this) Saban TV series and merchandise gold mine slated for summer 2016 and will battle Guy Ritchie's (yes, him again) "King Arthur".  I'm praying to all that is holy that Richard Gere isn't back for a second turn this time around.

GODZILLA---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 6/8/18
He is green, hear him roar.  The large reptile returns for more movie mayhem in 2018 and currently enjoys the June 8 slot to itself.

BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP---CLARIUS---IN 10/31/14   WAS 9/12/14
Another smart move.  The film moves off the fustercluck that is September 12th and onto a date where all this Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth thriller will have to contend with is Daniel Radcliffe in "Horns", both literally and figuratively.

THE AGE OF ADALINE---LIONSGATE---IN 1/23/15
I'm hearing great things about this Blake Lively, Harrison Ford romantic drama that feels a bit like Benjamin Button or Dorian Gray meets "The Notebook".  January 23rd isn't too crowded either, with only J Lo's "Boy Next Door" and Focus' Jude Law thriller "Black Sea" (which actually I can't wait to see.  Sea?  See.)

UNTITLED NEW LINE HORROR FILM---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 1/29/16
UNTITLED NEW LINE HORROR FILM---WARNER BROTHERS---IN 9/9/16
I will refrain from making my usual smart-ass comments about how I hate listing "Untitled" films in this feature because at least we kinda know what we're getting when it says "Untitled New Line Horror Film".  I reckon that Helen Mirren ain't in either of them.
