In this week's Mindless Wandering column, it's a go for Sonic The Hedgehog, the Coen Brothers work for Universal and it's a return to the big screen for Ronnie and Reggie Kray

***  Universal won worldwide distribution rights to the next Coen Brothers film, "Hail, Caesar", which will star George Clooney and Josh Brolin

***  Sony will bring video game star Sonic The Hedgehog to the big screen in a hybrid live action/animation movie for 2016.  Neal Mortiz will produce.

***  The Weinstein Company's Cannes pick-up "The Coup", a thriller with Pierce Brosnan, Owen Wilson and Lake Bell, has been set for a March 6, 2015 release date.

***  Relativity has announced a new "Earth To Echo" Geocaching initiative that allows parents and kids to search their neighborhoods for cleverly hidden containers associated with the film.  The adventures will occur in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle prior to the release of the movie.

***  Dreamworks Animation announced their lineup and release schedule which goes through 2018.  Included are "Puss in Boots 2", "Madagascar 4", "Captain Underpants" (the childrens book, not the Scorcese/DeNiro film), and "Boss Baby".

***   Shooting began on Working Title's "Legend" with Tom Hardy playing the dual roles of 1960's East London crime lords Ronnie and Reggie Kray, two guys with intense mommy issues who were immortalized in Morrissey's 1989 song "The Last of the Famous International Playboys".  If this sounds like deja vu, the story was already told on the big screen in 1990's "The Krays" starring real life brothers Gary and Martin Kemp, who were 2/5'ths of the 1980's new wave band, Spandau Ballet, who coincidentally reformed for the first time in 25 years to perform at this year's SXSW Festival.  Hopefully "Legend" will suffer a better fate than legendary Krays victim Jack "The Hat" McVitie did.

***  The Shane Black directed "The Nice Guys" is amassing quite an ensemble cast with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling rumored to be on board.  The film is a 1970's-set LA film noir.
