Sony Classics Picks Up Rights To Russian Hockey Docu "Red Army"

Sony Classics has picked up the rights, Pre-Cannes, to Gabe Polsky's documentary "Red Army". The film focuses on the Russian Hockey system, specifically defenseman Slava Fetisov who, along with fellow backliner Sergei Starikov, left the Red Army team to come to the United States in the late 1980's to play for the New Jersey Devils.

Sony Classics has picked up the rights, Pre-Cannes, to Gabe Polsky's documentary "Red Army".  The film focuses on the Russian Hockey system, specifically defenseman Slava Fetisov who, along with fellow backliner Sergei Starikov, left the Red Army team to come to the United States in the late 1980's to play for the New Jersey Devils.  Fetisov was branded a traitor by his native land, but went on to star for the Devils and eventually was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame and was instrumental in the surge of Russian players into the NHL since that time.
