It was a two-man, uh two robot, uh robot & an ape race at the overseas box office this weekend as "Transformers: Age Of Extinction" continues its campaign across the globe with $81.2 million, nipping out "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" which grossed a very healthy $61 million. TFAOE now sits at a staggering $659 million overseas.

World Cup? What World Cup? It matters little to the box office machine entitled "Transformers: Age of Extinction" as the film grossed a whopping $102 million this weekend, upping its ante to $543 million. A stunning stat is that as of this point, North America is only 27% of the worldwide box office total on the film.

That translates to family oriented films finishing 1-2 this weekend.

"Godzilla" finally came to the Chinese shores, even though it's barely a hop, skip and a jump from Japan, and roared its way to $36 million this past weekend. The accounted for all but $2 million of the film's total overseas gross and was good enough to drive the big green lizard to the top of the International box office.

Here's the good news for Warners...Tom Cruise's "Edge Of Tomorrow" opened to a very strong $82 million over the weekend, including a huge $25 from China. Now for the bad news, the World Cup starts on Thursday, which will put a huge damper on the international box office.

In the penultimate week prior to the start of the World Cup, Disney's "Maleficent" edged out Fox's "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" to top the overseas box office. The Angelina Jolie film took in a nice round number of $100 million while the X-Men gang was a close second at $95 million.
