This week's indie releases include an expansion of the wonderful Coogan/Brydon comedy, "The Trip To Italy", a debut for Jennifer Aniston and Will Forte's Life Of Crime and the story of Mexican comic actor "Cantinflas"
The Trip To Italy

There really isn't anything this weekend that will blow the doors off on the art house circuit but this is the week that the laugh-and-gastronomic-fest "The Trip To Italy" expands into the top 20 markets.  Grosses have thus far been solid on the Coogan/Brydon comedy so let's see how the film fares as it expands this week (while also debuting on cable VOD).

In addition, Pantelion and Lionsgate are taking 350 Latino-centric theatres on "Cantinflas", the biopic of legendary Mexican actor Mario Moreno, better known to the world as Cantinflas.  The actor was the most beloved comedian in his native Mexico in the 40's and 50's and then hopped across the border, debuting in Hollywood in 1956's "Around the World In 80 Days" as Passpartout, Phileas Fogg's (played by the late, great David Niven) manservant.  The film would go on to win that year's Oscar for Best Picture in one of the great WTF moments in Academy Awards history.  Oscar Jeanada portrays the comedian in the film, which is produced by "The Sopranos" star Michael Imperioli.

Life of Crime

In addition, Draft House releases the Robin Wright/Paul Giamatti sci-fi outing, "The Congress", Sony Classics opens exclusives on "The Notebook", no not that "Notebook", but rather a Hungarian World War II childhood survival drama, and Roadside Attractions offers up "Life of Crime", a ransom comedy with Jennifer Aniston and Will Forte.
