It's certainly not the start that Warners was looking for as the Thursday night late shows on "Transcendence" only amassed $875,00 (estimated) last night. There is a long way to go before the holiday weekend finishes but Johnny Depp's latest now looks to be battling for the #2 spot (assuming "Rio 2" returns to the #1 position, which looks almost assured now) with "Captain America: Winter Soldier" and possibly even "Heaven is For Real", which opened Wednesday and has pulled in roughly $7 million for the two days and should benefit greatly from Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Stay tuned. I'll have a weekend estimate both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
