Palm Gets Two in Cannes

Palm Pictures has announced a pair of acquisitions here at the Marche du Film in Cannes. The company has acquired North American and Caribbean rights to Asia Argento's "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things" and Michael Almereyda’s "William Eggleston: In the Real World". Both deals were closed this week at the Cannes Market.

Argento's film, which played in Cannes last year, was written by JT Leroy, based on Leroy's autobiographical book of the same name. Palm is planning a fall/winter release in theaters. Argento stars in the movie and it was produced by Chris Hanley and Roberta Hanley of Muse Productions and Lilly Bright of Curiously Bright Entertainment. The cast includes Jimmy Bennett, Peter Fonda, Jeremy Renner, Michael Pitt, Kip Pardue, Winona Ryder, and Marilyn Manson.

The "Heart is Deceitful" deal was negotiated by David Koh, Head of Acquisitions & Production for Palm Pictures along with producer Lilly Bright of Curiously Bright Entertainment and Chris Hanley of Muse Productions on behalf of the director and producers.

"William Eggleston," which Palm acquired as part of its Arthouse Film label, follows the photographer, documenting his work and his process, including interviews, photos and home movies.

The film will be released in theaters this fall, and was negotiated by Kohfor Palm Pictures & Arthouse Films along with Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment and Roger Kass of RingTheJing Entertainment on behalf of filmmaker Almereyda and producer Donald Rosenfeld of High Line Productions.
