Horrible histories

This is William Hurt's first visit to Cannes in 20 years. He last flew here in 1985, promoting his Oscar-winning performance in Hector Babenco's Kiss of the Spider Woman. He was a conquering hero: a movie star with a glittering career ahead of him. This time, he comes trailing baggage, and the reception has been more circumspect.
