Given everything we know about Mad Men -- that its final season is about to start, that its main characters have been in a constant state of emotional torture lately -- it's no surprise that by the end of Sunday's new episode one character is in a puddle of tears on the floor.

Lady Mary is the kind of role that could stereotype an actress, but Michelle Dockery has the good sense to be making fun of her aristocratic counterpart already. In this Funny or Die spoof, she plays opposite Michael Chiklis in a pretend -- but painfully close to real -- new TNT crime series, Tough Justice.

Will Ferrell continues his hilarious promotional tour for The Campaign with this topical but non-Campaign-centered bit on Conan. “She goes by K Stew,” may be all you need to know about his weeping reaction to that high-profile breakup. While the rest of the world hand-wrings about things we can’t possibly know – like what is Rob thinking? -- Ferrell sends up the entire celeb-obsessed hysteria.

Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm Campaign Against Lame Interviews

Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm came together last night to fight a serious cultural blight: lame interview questions. How much longer should we have to endure actors swearing that they had the most fun ever making the movie, or directors who insist that every member of the cast was absolutely the first, dream choice? Please! Promoting their new film, 'The Campaign,' Ferrell and Galifianakis clearly have had enough.  Along with guest Jon Hamm, they staged an intervention and challenged Jon Stewart to stop the lazy questions. We are all grateful. (Although in real life Stewart is obviously not a major offender.)

The best part of the Emmy nominations? Jimmy Kimmel appearing in his pj’s, speaking truth to power. “This could be just as good at noon, really,” he said at the insane hour of 5:40 AM Pacific time. Kimmel, who will host the awards show on Sept 23., stepped in to announce the nominations with Kerry Washington when Nick Offerman was delayed in the East because of yesterday’s monster storm. And he went straight to an even more cogent point in an interview with GMA after the nominations.

How 'Mad Men' Ended Its Season of Old-Fashioned Sexual Politics

Matthew Weiner loves to tease Mad Men viewers and keep them off guard, so of course the season finale refused to give us the expected, explosive plot turn. There were enough of those in the  past few weeks: Joan agreed (yes, agreed) to be pimped out to a client, Peggy quit, Lane killed himself. You want more? And throughout the season, Don gradually discovered he was not married to a doormat. Now that it’s over, we can see that this season – a season as good as this spectacular series has ever been – was mostly about what would come to be called, soon after the Mad Men years, sexual politics.

Mick Jagger was host of one of the best SNL’s of the season, a high-energy finale that relied on Jagger’s persona and was fueled by so much nostalgia that it seemed like classic rock, with Jagger doing "19th Nervous Breakdown" with Foo Fighters, "The Last Time" with Arcade Fire and "Ruby Tuesday" in the show-ending goodbye to Kristen Wiig, who’s leaving SNL.

When recorded series go live, it’s usually hard to overcome the stuntiness of it all. (Alec Baldwin promised in a promo that the live 30 Rock would be “liver” than ever, so we all get to make up new words). But 30 Rock found a brilliant, hilarious meta-solution by making its live show about live TV.

There has been an avalanche of hype and a little hand-wringing about the season premiere of Mad Men on Sunday. (Brief review: it’s good and answers some cliff-hanging questions in a flash.) But don’t let his amazing performance as Don Draper obscure the fact that Jon Hamm is a very funny guy, as we know from his appearances on SNL. Last night, he and Jimmy Fallon has a water war that redfines silliness.

Lindsay Lohan hosted SNL last night and the less said about that the better. Was Lorne Michaels trying to do her a favor? Or latch onto tabloid hype? Either way, it felt like punishment for us, with a couple of exceptions. Jon Hamm showed up in a couple of great short cameos: one as the back-up host sitting in the audience; another pretending to be in love with Snooki, played by Bobby Moynihan on Weekend Update.
