It’s one thing to know where the bodies are buried and another to know how to use that information. The best dramas about political thugs - and they are a fascinating breed - show us the behind-the scenes payoffs, blackmail schemes and turns of the screw that a politico uses to wield his power. So far the new Starz series Boss, with Kelsey Grammer as Tom Kane, the corrupt mayor of Chicago (I guess Chicago is so used to charges of corruption, using its real name isn’t even an insult) comes through with those sinister, twisty plots.

If you look closely into the herd of zombies stumbling through a school parking lot in next week’s episode of The Walking Dead, you’ll see one wearing a FEMA jacket – a mordant, apparently trivial detail that actually reveals one of the series’ major truths: The Government Can’t Help You.

In an episode with surprise appearances from Hugh Jackman and Kenny G, the best cameo of last night's Saturday Night Live may have actually come from the host himself. Stiller's popular movie character showed up on Weekend Update, pairing up with Bill Hader's Stefon to give viewers a guide to New York City's latest hot-spots. --Natalie Wright

As long as Sarah Palin keeps talking about herself (and how likely is that to stop?), Jon Stewart can go on calling her out on her narcissism. Here he is on her non-announcement about her non-running for president.

Piers Morgan Tonight begins its run as the replacement for Larry King Live on Monday, but Morgan has been teasing his first interview, with Oprah Winfrey, for days. You'll notice it's not Piers Morgan Live, and the already-taped two-hour extravaganza will be cut down to 45 minutes or so on air. That's some heavy-duty editing, with lots of interesting bits likely to be left out.

Twice a year, the Television Critics’ Association has what I consider a dinosaur of a gathering, commonly known as TCA Press Tour, in which networks trot out their new shows and talent. I’m always happy not to be there, especially yesterday when I could sit back and read the very funny tweets from critics trapped in the room during the presentation for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network. The headline: in answer to a single question which no one can quite remember, Oprah went on for – someone clocked it – 18 minutes and 15 seconds. This was supposed to be a press conference, not a dramatic monologue, but it ended up inspiring the hashtag #oprahfilibuster.
