If Downton Abbey is beginning to seem like a memory lost in the mist, if you are longing to hear Higgins the valet ask a footman, “Did you Febreeze His Lordship’s pantaloons?” you are ready for the new installment of Downton Sixbey from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
As you recall from the first installment (if you missed it, here's a link), the heir to Downton, Carson Daly, has been lost in a tragic accident. The family must adjust to a new heir, Questlove, and in Episode 2 his mother arrives as well. I won’t ruin the surprise of her appearance --- maybe just a hint. She says she walked over from the The View, and in response the Dowager Countess (Late Night writer A.D. Miles; really, he could be Maggie Smith’s understudy) witheringly says, “Is that the noise I heard? I thought someone was strangling a bag of cats.”
Even in parodies the Dowager Countess is the wisest woman in the room.
Among the other joys of Episode 2, Lady Hedith (yes, Hedith is Fred Armisen) reveals her musical talent.
