Tonight I'll head off to a screening of The Green Hornet, and while a 3D action-hero-comedy doesn't sound like my kind of thing, I would follow director Michel Gondry anywhere. He's a rare visionary, with a deadpan sense of humor, and his time-and-memory-bending romance Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of the few, best films of the past decade.
Here's a look at the pesona I see as pure Gondry, from his website, MichelGondry.com, which was unapologetically set up to sell you his stuff -- DVDs, books, whatever he's got. He appears on his mock-talk-show with a charmingly direct hard sell.
The site is hardly up to date -- it's Green Hornet-free -- but is worth a look for his instantly-recognizable drawings. Whether The Green Hornet is another true Gondry adventure or just a payday -- we'll see about that. Meanwhile, enjoy Gondry 1.0.
