Sarah Palin manages to make news even on the rare occasions when she keeps her mouth shut. Today in the world of Palin media, it was announced that Julianne Moore will play her in the HBO film Game Change, based on Mark Halperin and John Heilbrun’s best seller about the 2008 election. So far Moore is the only actor officially cast in the film by Jay Roach, who also directed the HBO political film Recount (and more famously Meet the Parents).
But you can pick your Palin because long before that, Kathy Griffin will play a Palinesque, Tea Party character in Glee.
When asked about Griffin’s role recently, Palin characteristically turned it around and attacked Griffin, calling her a “bully” for making fun of her daughters, Bristol and Willow.
Describing Griffin’s Glee appearance, Jane Lynch told Access Hollywood, “She wears this very Sarah Palin outfit and she’s very righteous.” I’m guessing it isn’t really an impersonation though. I’m not a great Griffin fan, but she's smart enough not to compete with Tina Fey's unbeatable Palin.
Moore is smart enough to do anything, even play the character who was, let’s say, not known as the most brilliant person in that campaign.
