With Romney the default Republican candidate, the impressions of him are piling up. Jason Sudeikis’ needs some work (so far Jimmy Fallon and his glistening Romney wig are in the lead) but this SNL sketch with Romney  trying desperately to be edgy – yes, he wears a leather jacket – is a shrewd take on political consultants.

Meanwhile, the real John Hunstman appeared on Weekend Update to make fun of his many trips to New Hampshire – a guest spot his own political consultants obviously hoped would liven up his campaign. But appearing on SNL to make fun of yourself isn’t unusual – and it’s definitely not the same as actually being lively or funny.  Serious political observers are surprised that Huntsman hasn’t made more of an impact, but his dull appearance on the show just reinforced the blander-than-Romney image. Here's the funnier-than-real Romney Sudeikis.
