President Obama's interview with Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes took up most of the program, and the headlines (why the photos of Bin Laden's corpse aren't being released, for one) have already been in the news. But the experience of watching went beyond the headlines. Seeing Obama answer the questions with such steely calm, offering details when he chose to and a few graceful evasions when he didn't, creates a vivid sense of how he must operate under pressure.

Whatever you think of Eliot Spitzer - and frankly I’d take smart, Clinton-Spitzer sex-challenged politicians over idiot politicians any day - he’s good on television. He’s an incisive, challenging interviewer; he’s politically opinionated but not bullying, and always listens to the other side.

For days, the images of the violent demonstrations in Cairo have looked eerily like a movie, especially when colorfully-clothed men on horseback swooped through, attacking the crowds in Tahrir Square. Yesterday the look and feel changed as American journalists found it wasn't safe to report from the streets. "Anyone with a camera was a target" of pro-Mubarak demonstrators, Anderson Cooper said on CNN, and around 10:00 PM last night Eastern time, near dawn in Cairo, you could see how dangerous it had become.
