Tiger Woods, Thank Charlie Sheen

Tiger Woods visited Jimmy Fallon last night, and Fallon - who in the monologue called him “The one man out there who can actually say he’s filled with Tiger blood” - praised him for “your courage in coming on a late night comedy show.” Fallon thanked him on behalf of his comedy writers for all those double-entendre golf jokes that wrote themselves (balls!) after the career-decimating scandal that revealed Woods as a master womanizer, but the real thanks should go from Woods to Charlie Sheen.

Sheen is still in the headlines, flaunting his two girlfriends, turning his crazed outburst into a self-conscious live-comedy tour of major cities. His “Charlie Sheen Live: My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option” show begins with a gig in Detroit that sold out in 18 minutes.

Woods cheated on his wife with some very dubious party girls, but he wasn’t an out-of-control crackhead and he actually apologized afterwards, doing the old-fashioned remorse thing. He seems tame, almost Puritanical next to Sheen.

When Fallon introduced Woods as “a friend of the show” he wasn’t kidding; the puff-ball promotion of a new Tiger Woods video game was deadly dull. On Good Morning America today Robin Roberts also plugged the video game, asked Woods about the challenge of not winning a golf tournament in a year, and of being a single father. No one expects more questions about the scandal at this point – we can give the guy a break – but it’s there in everyone’s mind.

And so is Charlie Sheen. Tiger Woods looked uncomfortable on TV, almost squirming even with such friendly interviewers, but the timing of his visits couldn’t have been better. Here's the first, most interesting part:

The real reason this issue is a contrast or in existence at all for that matter, is that Sheen is a hedonistic, narcissistic, spoiled brat who now may have some actual organic brain damage from the levels of drugs he uses. Where as most anyone one in comparison is simply someone who has an unhappy marriage, or has made immature decisions, etc.
If this little boy* (Sheen) doesn't pull himself together; unfortunately he may come to an unhappy end quite soon.

    * "Little boy" is the proper term as a man does not beat women!
