How evil was Bin Laden? He made me miss TV! There was so much news last night, The Killing and The Borgias are already backed up on my DVR, and tonight is just as packed with a head-spinning range of shows from the silly to the serious. Here’s a rundown of the highlights:
The Obamas appear together on Oprah, but unfortunately the show was taped last week, just after the President released his long-form birth certificate. Seems like months ago already. (syndicated, 4 PM in NYC)
Pure escapism: House is new, with Candice Bergen returning as ex-girlfriend Cuddy’s Mom. The trailer has a great line with perfect Hugh Laurie delivery as House tells Cuddy: “You know I was just thinking about how much I want a relationship with no sex, but where I still have to deal with your mother.” (Fox, 8 ET)
Rachel Maddow was in the crowd outside the White House last night, and that makes hers the news program I’m most curious to watch. (MSNBC, 9 ET) .
Great timing, late-night hosts: The Daily Show, Colbert, Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel - all new, all frantically writing their Bin Laden jokes.
Also new: an umissable Conan, with Will Ferrell in the conclusion of his long-promsed, very funny threat to shave Conan’s beard, Beardpocalypse! There’s definitely a way to combine beard-shaving with Bin Laden, but who knows what they’ll do?
If you missed it, here's a tease for Beardpocalypse:
And here's Maddow phoning Brian Williams from outside the White House last night:
