Will Ferrell gives an amazing, touching performance as a man whose life is falling apart in the indie drama Everything Must Go, (here's my review) but he's still one of the funniest guys around. In the past few weeks alone he has turned up on Conan, Letterman and The Office with hilariously different personalities.
Ferrell will be a guest on Conan on May 2nd, and he has been popping up in a series of videos on the show threatening to shave Conan's beard during that episode. The videos are models of how to turn a running publicity stunt into true absurdist humor. Here's the latest installment of what Conan calls Beardpopaclypse.
And here's Ferrell taking over during a Tina Fey interview.
You can see more Beardpocalypse at the Conan site.
During his appearance with David Letterman last night he turned up dressed for the Royal Wedding and sent a big wet kiss to Kate and "Willie" as he calls him. (Less comically, Matt Lauer dressed the same on Jimmy Fallon, but Lauer's actually covering the wedding and seemed a little embarrassed by it.):
And if that's not enough, Ferrell has been doing a guest run on The Office as Michael Scott's (Steve Carell) thoughtless, goofy replacement, Deangelo Vickers. Here's a preview of tomorrow's Office, Carell's last episode, but not Ferrell's quite yet.
