Zach Galifianakis really put his stamp on Saturday Night Live last night, with the absurdist comedy that is purely his.

During the final minutes, while Jessie J. sang, Galifianakis disappeared backstage then came back with a partially shaved head and a mohawk. He said good night and too bad they didn’t have time for that Mr. T sketch. DId he really shave his head? He wasn’t explaining but it looked real and there’s a precedent: last time he hosted he shaved his beard backstage during a song.

His opening monologue led into Galifianakis as Little Orphan Annie singing "Tomorrow," a very funny routine he’’s done before but . (NBC hasn’t posted that clip but you can find a good version at Mediaite here. It’s worth watching.)

And the SNL opener sent up March Madness with a bracket of truly mad people from Quaddaffi to the inevitable Charlie Sheen. Look for Kristin Wiig as the competitor the commentators call "aspiring hot mess Melissa Leo."
