Is that a city that indie films like yours usually does well in?
Or, was there a good reason for playing the flick in that town?
I think something went gigantically wrong - maybe the figures were reported incorrectly. It is very difficult for me to believe Sex Addic drawing only a couple of people in for a screening.
That's not a couple of people per screening, that's one person per day and two people on sunday if the figures are correct.

sujewa,
i'd believe it.
when the film played in pittsburgh, pa, it played in a theatre at the end of an industrial cul-de-sac (it had previously been scheduled in a theatre in the downtown 'cultural district').
this part of town is actually pretty close to the universities, but is seemingly not really on the radar of students since it's not around any other businesses (restaurants, bars) that might attract them.
also, there was little to no promotion of the film, even in the free weeklies whose audiences would seemingly be most interested in films outside the mainstream.
the film opened on a saturday (not a friday) ran thru thursday and had one screening a night.
when i went, i was one of four or five people in the audience.
that was disappointing, but this film's life will extend well beyond it's theatrical run, and besides that, many of the people to whom i've recommended the film opted to watch it 'on-demand'. and who knows what those numbers are like...
