Ang Lee's film won six Sierra Awards, including Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Picture.

With one critics group after another falling for "Zero Dark Thirty" (five different Best Picture awards from critics groups and counting), my awards posts were starting to sound like a broken record of a guy just reciting a bunch of numbers. The Las Vegas Film Critics Society, though, are clearly a bunch of hearty iconoclasts (let's not stoop to calling them gamblers. We're better than that). They went with a different best film of 2012: Ang Lee's "Life of Pi," which they also gave five additional awards including Best Director (Ang Lee), Best Cinematography (Claudio Miranda), Best Score (Mychael Danna), Best Visual Effects (They Didn't Include a Name), and a "Youth in Film" prize for the film's star, Suraj Sharma.

The LVFCS' acting categories yieled less surprises, with awards season favorites from "Lincoln" Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and Tommy Lee Jones all receiving nods along with Jennifer Lawrence for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook." "Zero Dark Thirty" won just a single award from the Las Vegas critics, for Best Editing.

Here's there full list of winners:

Best Art Direction: Alex Cameron, "Prometheus"

William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award: Alan Arkin

Does a William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award go to an actor for a lifetime of behaving like William Holden? I'm not entirely sure.

According to their press release, the LVFCS was founded in 1997, and "is currently comprised of 19 members of the journalistic community in the Las Vegas, NV and Reno, NV areas." If you want to see the full more on the awards, go to LVFCS.org.
