Opening Night Film

Sydney Pollack's SKETCHES OF FRANK GEHRY has been selected as the opening film of the 2006 festival. The first documentary by Academy Award winning director Sydney Pollack (THE INTERPRETER, OUT OF AFRICA) is a look at the life and work of the renowned architect. The opening night screening is sponsored by Capitol Broadcasting Company.

Richard Leacock to receive Career Award

The festival will present its 2006 Career Award to legendary filmmaker Richard Leacock. A consummate artist, Richard Leacock was born in England, gained a physics degree at Harvard, and was a combat cameraman in World War II for the army. Combined with his founding and leadership of MIT's film department, Leacock's influence on subsequent generations of filmmakers continues to provide a living legacy. We are pleased to be screening a selection of Leacock's most notable work and his present favorites, including JAZZ DANCE (1954), HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY (1963), LES OEFS A LA COQUE (1989).
