Sundance 2006 Juries
The Sundance Institute announced the SIX juries that will judge the 193 films that will screen at the 2006 festival. The juries are comprised of the following members:
Dramatic Competition
- Miguel Arteta: director of episodes of SIX FEET UNDER and CHUCK AND BUCK
- Terence Howard: lead actor in HUSTLE & FLOW, CRASH and FOUR BROTHERS
- Alan Rudolph: director of CHOOSE ME and THE SECRET LIVES OF DENTISTS
- Nancy Schreiber: wonderful cinematographer of Courteney Cox's NOVEMBER and Kevin Bacon's LOVERBOY
- Audrey Wells: writer/director whose films include THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS and GUINEVERE
Documentary Competition
- Joe Bini: filmmaker/editor whose films include GRIZZLY MAN and LITTLE DIETER NEEDS TO FLY
- Zana Briski: director of Academy Award Winning BORN INTO BROTHELS
- Andrew Jarecki: director of CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS and founder of Moviefone
- Alexander Payne: brilliant director of films like CITIZEN RUTH, ELECTION, and ABOUT SCHMIDT
- Heather Rae: producer and director of TRUDELL
World Cinema Dramatic Competition
- Irene Bignardi: director of Festival Internazionale del Film di Locarno from 2001-2005
- Lu Chuan: fine artist whose films include KEKEXILI: MOUNTAIN PATROL
- Thomas Vinterberg: co-founder of the DOGME 95 Movement with director Lars von Trier, director of DEAR WENDY and HEROES
World Cinema Documentary Competition
- Kate Amend: editor of INTO THE ARMS OF STRANGERS and THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SESAME STREET
- Jean-Xavier de Lestrade: prolific documentary filmmaker who won the Academy Award for MURDER ON A SUNDAY MORNING
- Rachel Perkins: Aboriginal filmmaker, founding member of Indigenous TV in Australia
American and International Short Film
- Georgia Lee: Harvard graduate, apprentice to Martin Scorsese, director of RED DOORS and EDUCATED
- Sydney Neter: Dutch promoter and distributor of many successful Short Films
- John Vanco: VP and general manager of IFC, led the marketing, publicity and distribution of dozens of independent films
